Denver Arts Center/Dazzle Parking

The DCPA Parking garage is installing a new payment system. The Arapahoe St. entrance is closed for the installation, but the 13th Street Entrance is now finished and open!  Only electronic payments will be accepted.  Screen will say ‘Push button for Event Ticket’. Then it will show the $15 fee and a picture of a credit card.  Patron inserts their credit card and system processes. System ties their license plate to their transaction.  Individual gets a receipt.  Gate opens.  Upon exit, the system will recognize their license plate, gate will open.  If license plate is not recognized, your receipt will have a QR code to scan to show payment. The price for the DCPA parking garage is still $15.

Soon the parking garage will introduce an app that will allow you to reserve a space ahead of arrival! We’ll let you know when that is available.

Below is a video on how to use the new system:

Best Late-night Jazz

Dazzle has brought so much to the jazz scene since it opened its doors at 930 Lincoln Street in 1997, but the venue really showed its love for the city by deciding to spotlight another jazz club when it had its long-anticipated reopening in the Denver Performing Arts Complex last August. The El Chapultepec Piano Lounge honors the come-as-you-are spot that closed during the pandemic, in partnership with the El Chapultepec Legacy Project. Dedicated to maintaining the ‘Pec’s legacy, the lounge offers late-night sets from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays — and they’re all free.

Show Description

James Dewitt Yancey, better known by the stage names J Dilla and Jay Dee, was an American record producer and rapper who emerged in the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene in Detroit, Michigan, as one third of the music group Slum Village. He was also a member of the Soulquarians, a musical collective active during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Although his life and career were short, J Dilla is widely considered to be one of the most influential producers in the hip-hop genre. It was described in The Guardian that “his affinity for crafting lengthy, melodic loops peppered with breakbeats and vocal samples took instrumental hip-hop into new, more musically complex realms.”

ManyColors pays homage to the great J Dilla with an inspired soul-hop stew of fresh jazz harmonies embedded in a lo-fi soundscape with an irresistible rhythmic pocket. An emergent four-piece band, ManyColors opens up new musical space by using a hip-hop format to explore chords and motifs usually reserved for jazz.

Come see ManyColors pay tribute to “The King of Beats” in an intimate setting right in the heart of downtown Denver.

Brant Williams – guitar/samples

Eric Luba – electric keyboards/piano

Kirwan Brown – bass

Braxton Kahn – drums
