The CCJA Ken Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund
Please consider donating to a scholarship fund that has been established in loving memory of Denver bassist and legend, Ken Walker.
Ken Walker and his sextet commanded the Dazzle stage on the last Friday of every month for over 21 years. He was a gentle giant on the local jazz scene, collaborating with numerous renowned artists and delighting audiences with his music and words.
Ken believed in the importance of nurturing the next generation of jazz musicians through teaching, and was a mentor for the Colorado Conservatory for Jazz Arts (“CCJA”) since its inception in 1999. This memorial fund will support scholarships for middle and high school students with financial need who would like to attend CCJA’s week-long summer camp in Westcliffe, CO in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The annual need for camp scholarship support is approximately $10,000, and our goal is to create a perpetual fund in Ken’s honor to support young aspiring jazz musicians for years to come.
